A physical VIN inspection on out of state vehicles is only done on insurance destroyed or homemade vehicles. It is also required on vehicles branded out of state as salvage or rebuilt. It is also required on vehicles that are Registration only, Bonded, or where ownership is in doubt.
The fee is $50.00 and paid at the Vehicle License Office.
Routine Out-of-state titled vehicles still require a VIN inspection but are now processed internally through a Vehicle License Office. A NCIC check for stolen vehicles will be run.
