Jury Duty

Okanogan County jury selection is done by a computer program. Our jury source list is provided by two sources, the county voter registration and Washington State Driver’s License and or ID card.

The Clerk’s Office draws 600 to 800 names from the total jury pool each month. Your first notice will be in the form of a questionnaire, you will be on call for the month stated on your questionnaire form.  Please complete both sides and return by return mail. This is a valuable tool for you to note any scheduled vacations, medical excuses or any reason for delays. The court will make every attempt to honor your request.

You will be mailed a postcard with specific instructions as to the date and time to appear one week before that date. Once you have been on a panel and are seated as a juror, your name will be removed for a period of one year. It is our goal to call a juror only once during their service month. However, that can change if we run short of jurors.

Prospective jurors should call as directed on your postcard the evening prior to the report date at 509-422-7276 or 1-800-421-0680. We ask that you call after 6:00PM as cases may settle at a late hour and we want to provide prospective jurors with the most current information.

Due to the rise in inquiries about Jury Duty scams,

We will never call you for your personal information. If we need more information you will be instructed to fill out a questionnaire (if we didn't receive yours back) at the time you appear for your Jury Duty service.

Most of our correspondence will be done through a questionnaire or through post cards,  although there may be an occasion where we need to call you, in that case personal information such as Social Security #'s or bank account information is never required. Remember we get our information from Voter Registration or Washington Driver's License or ID cards, so most of your information is provided and Confidential.

In some cases you may receive a Post Card with out sending us back a Questionnaire, our new system selects you to show up with out having to return them. It is for that reason we ask you to send your questionnaire back as soon as possible, so there is no conflict with reasons for excusal or postponement.

If you receive a post card telling you that you have FTA'd, Please call us as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for your service to be rescheduled or be excused. This will eliminate any chance of further action taken against you.

If you feel that the person calling you is not from our office, then hang up and call the County Clerk's Office @ 509-422-7275, we will verify your Jury Status.
