The Okanogan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on May 17, 2005, with Chairman Mary Lou Peterson, Commissioner Andrew Lampe, Commissioner Don Hover and Brenda Crowell, Clerk of the Board present.
Discussion – Watershed Planning / Salmon Recovery –
Water Resources
Julie Pyper discussed current issues with Watershed Planning and Salmon recovery
with the Commissioners.
Discussion – Vehicle Purchase – Assessor
Scott Furman explained that he will be calling for bids to purchase a 4x4 6
cylinder Blazer or Explorer 2003 or newer.
Discussion – Engineers Report - Public Works
Rob McGaughey and staff reported on current road projects and road maintenance.
Discussion – Natural Area Preserve – DNR
The Commissioners met with representatives of the Washington State Department of
Natural Resources and discussed the proposed expansion of a natural area
preserve just south of Pateros.
Motion – Consent Agenda – Commissioners
Commissioner Hover moved to approve the consent agenda items 1-17. Motion was
seconded and carried. (attached)

Bid Opening – Manufacture of Gravel – Public Works
Commissioner Peterson noted the time for bids has arrived and no further bids
will be accepted. Six bids were received

Discussion – Pest Control – Pest Control Board
Roland Smith, Paul Inlow, Bill Lockwood, Dan McCarthy
The Commissioners explained the need to follow procedures with bids for abating orchards. It was noted that the bid specs should clearly state what the end result should look like and cannot specify what equipment is to be used.
Discussion – Damaged Grandstands – Parks and Recreation
Carl Christensen, Rich Fewkes, James McCuen, & Jeri Raebenold
Carl presented an estimate from Stan Carter to repair the grandstands that were damaged by the wind. The estimate is $7,963.47. Carl stated that Jehovah Witnesses Construction has volunteered to repair the damage in exchange for campsite fees.
Agreement – Separation for Dan Powers – Human Resources
Commissioner Hover moved to approve a separation agreement with Dan Powers for
professional services. Motion was seconded and carried. (attached)
A19A – CDBG – Community Action
Commissioner Hover moved to approve a reimbursement request for the CDBG for
Housing and Public Services and authorize the chairman to sign. Motion was
seconded and carried. (attached)
