Update – Planning
Regarding the Eastlake Road repairs, Greg
stated that IMCO’s last payment is being withheld until the repairs and finish
work has been completed. He also briefed the Commissioners on a proposed project
in south Okanogan County.
Discussion – Veranda Beach - Planning
Jim stated that the site is under construction.
Approximately 52 foundations have been completed with framing completed on 28-30
units. The first of the cottages are being dry walled. Beginning in February,
about three cottages will be turned over for occupancy. Commissioner Hover asked
when the amenities will be built. The first phase of the marina will be built
this year. The boat launch, the walking trail, village green and the large tent
will be built next year. The village center will be built in 2008. The first of
the cottages will be finished early next year. 27 of 58 cottages in the second
phase have been sold. There are about 50 workers on site and approximately 70%
are local workers. The majority of materials are being purchased in the US and
local vendors. The sewer and water are very close to being finished. Roads will
be paved in the spring.
Resolution 138-2006 – Budget Transfer – CE
Commissioner Peterson moved approve Resolution
138-2006, transfer of $400 within the Current Expense Fund from the Contingency
Reserve to Professional Services. Motion was seconded and carried.
Discussion – County Risk Assessment – Risk Pool
David Goldsmith presented claim statistics for
Okanogan County and its relationship to the Risk Pool. He offered suggestions
for improving the county’s risk exposure and noted that the area of personnel is
the area where Okanogan County has experienced the most risk. Regarding the need
for supervisory training he pointed out that all supervisors need to have
training including the elected officials. Areas needing to be addressed are
personnel, vehicle use policies and contracting procedures.
