OKANOGAN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
June 19, 2006
The Okanogan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on April 4, 2006, with Chairman Don Hover, Commissioner Andrew Lampe, Commissioner Mary Lou Peterson and Brenda Crowell, Clerk of the Board present.
Update – Planning
Greg Wilder presented a resolution to award the
Eastlake Sewer Project to IMCO General Construction.
Resolution 71-2006 – Bid Award Eastlake Sewer Project –
Planning
Commissioner Peterson moved to approve
Resolution 71-2006, awarding the construction contract for the Eastlake Sewer
Project to IMCO General Construction in the amount of $2,850,687.58. Motion was
seconded and carried. (attached)
Housing Needs Assessment – Community Action
Lael Duncan presented the Housing Needs
Assessment summary to the Commissioners. The assessment discovered that there is
a need for 13,000 beds for Farm Housing for migrant workers. Commissioner Hover
commented on the need for "affordable housing".
Lael noted that it would be best to purchase enough land and homes to provide enough safe housing for families. Lael stated that her biggest concern is the homeless youth population. Commissioner Peterson stated that she feels that there is a need in Okanogan County for a homeless shelter.
Discussion – Temporary Help – Prosecutor’s
Karl Sloan, Pat Behrman
Karl Sloan explained that he would like to hire Kevin Hayes to help with some case files etc. Commissioner Lampe moved authorize the Prosecutor’s Office to hire Kevin Hayes for approximately 7 weeks on a temporary basis not to exceed $2800. Motion was seconded and carried. The Commissioners’ also discussed future needs of the county’s criminal justice system.
