OKANOGAN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

The Okanogan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on September 11, 2006, with Commissioner Andrew Lampe, Commissioner Mary Lou Peterson and Brenda Crowell, Clerk of the Board present. Chairman Don Hover in Washington DC

Discussion – Eastlake Sewer Project - Planning
Greg reported on the status of the Eastlake Sewer Project. The grant application was submitted for GMA. Greg and the contractor are working on the situation with Mr. Sylvester. Commissioner Peterson said that it appears that the irrigation shutoff is within the county right-of-way. Commissioner Peterson suggested that a letter be sent to the residents who are feeling the impact of the construction of the sewer project. Greg noted that the county GIS department has been working closely with the Forest Service on the fires. Commissioner Lampe requested that the GIS department provide the commissioners with information regarding roadless areas so that they can draft their comments to the roadless plan.

Discussion – Supplemental Appropriation – Emergency Services
Frank Rogers, Joe Somday, and Scott Miller discussed the need for a supplemental to the Emergency Services Fund. They explained that the budget had additional expenses due to the recent fires and flooding. A hearing will be scheduled.

Executive Session – Personnel
Commissioner Peterson moved to go into executive session for personnel at 11:35 AM for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Motion was seconded and carried.

Open Session resumed at 12:05 PM

Discussion – Forest Fires – Forest Service
Members of the Forest Service and firefighters reviewed the status and events of the recent forest fires. The commissioners also expressed their concern again about hiring local people and equipment.
