911 Dispatch Center
The Okanogan County Communications Center is a 24/7 9-1-1 emergency dispatch
communications center located in Okanogan Washington. Okanogan County is Washington's largest county in land mass encompassing 5,281 square miles. Okanogan County Communications Center is the only county in Washington with the challenge of providing radio communications covering 4 mountain passes crossed by state highways. The 9-1-1 communications center is a division within the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office. The communications center provides 9-1-1 telephone call receiving and radio dispatch services to the 42,000+ citizens, visitors and 30+ Law, Fire, and EMS agencies within Okanogan County. The communications deputies are National Academy of Emergency Dispatch certified and complete the Washington State 9-1-1 Telecommunicator I & II courses. Initial training is on-the-job and often completed in 4-8 months.
Annually the communications center dispatches over 30,000 calls for service to public safety agencies and processes approximately 100,000 9-1-1 and non-emergency phone calls.
