Communication Districts

Chapter 36.95 RCW.  The purposes of a communication reception improvement district, hereinafter referred to in this chapter as "district", shall be to serve the public interest, convenience, and necessity in the construction, maintenance, and operation of communication translator stations, including appropriate electric or electronic devices for increasing television program distribution, but said purposes are not meant to include the construction or operation of television cable systems, commonly known and referred to as cable TV systems or CATV.

The Okanogan County Treasurer's Office collects for two communication districts in our county.

Television District #1:  $40.00 yearly assessment fee.  This covers the Oroville to Malott area. You may visit their website at www.tvdistrict1.org. They may also be contacted at (509) 322-3970 or at secretary@tvdistrict1.org.

Methow Valley Communications District:  $30.00 yearly assessment fee.  This covers the Brewster and Methow area. You may visit their website at www.mvcomm.org. They may also be contacted at  (509) 557-0963 or at secretary@mvcomm.org.

The yearly payments are due by April 30th.  A late fee of $2.00 will be charged to your account on May 1st if the yearly assessment is not paid.  There may be a second billing done in June with the late fee which is due as soon as possible.

When paying any delinquent Communication Districts after calculation date, contact this office at (509) 422-7180 for the correct amount.
